2012 NRHS Convention

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - June 2012

Once a year the NRHS picks an historic location to explore American railroading and the impact of railways on the country’s development. It’s where our dedication to rail preservation and our love of trains come together. This year, we’ll be in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (photo on the right by FJ Grizel).

Our annual railroad convention is open to everyone, although NRHS members pay reduced registration fees and have early access to event tickets.

Convention programming typically includes:

  • Operation of special railroad trains, often including steam trains and other vintage equipment
  • Enhanced visits to museums, historic railroad sites and tourist railroads
  • Opportunities for photography of railroad equipment and railway facilities
  • Seminars about interesting aspects of local railroad history and operations
  • Visits to other local attractions and historic sites in addition to railroad sites
