The Railroad Museum of Long Island was formed in 1990 with a mission
to preserve and display Long Island New York's railroad heritage.
The Museum has many pieces of rolling stock, and gift shops at
both locations. At the Riverhead facility, the main museum complex,
there are over 10 pieces of rolling stock, many rail artifacts,
and a garden railway.
Transportation to and from Riverhead was on the Long Island Railroad
with departures from the Ronkonkoma station.
