Board of Directors Meeting

The Board of Directors Meeting was held in the Wyndham Hotel in Baltimore and was called to order at 1 p.m. by Greg Molloy, NRHS President.

The minutes of the Richmond Meeting were accetped by the Board and alternate directors were elected. Barry Smith, appointed to fill the Vice-President role left vacant when Bob Pinsky passed away earlier this year, was elected Vice-President by the Board. Board members then heard updates on many aspects of society business including emblem sales, the Bulletin, the NRHS web site, membership development and membership records.

Heritage Grant awards totaling $30,000 were announced. It was also noted that over $200,000 in grants have been awarded since the program was started in 1991. This is a great testament to the NRHS's committment to railroad preservation. An update on RailCamp was given by Larry Eastwood. One session of RailCamp will be held the third week in July. At this time the session is sold out with several students on the waiting list for next year.

A new promotional membership category was approved by the board. This class of membership will be used to try to regain lost members to non-renewal. Reports were heard from Carl Jensen on past, present and future conventions. Carl urges anyone interested in hosting a convention in 2006 to talk with the convention committee about their ideas. A proposal by the Central Coast Chapter for the 2005 Fall Board of Directors meeting was accepted by the Board of Directors.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:50 p.m.
