Central of Georgia K-4 No. 451. For a long time it seemed that the Central of Georgia's K class 4-8-4's were going to be an insurmountable jinx to the photographer. It seemed that every time a shot was attempted something went wrong. As is evident from the photographs in this collection the jinx was more than amply overcome, as there are certainly some outstanding pictures of the 450's. The first really successful of these unusually handsome hogs was this shot of westbound 35 at Wise, Georgia, in early 1946. At this point the 451 is loping down the double track at an easy gait preparing to swing onto the single track main at Wise. From March 2006 Calendar of Atlanta Chapter NRHS. Hugh M. Comer
