The only operable former Pennsylvania Railroad steam locomotive was the main attraction at the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association's annual Tractor and Steam Show August 27th through Labor Day, 2006. The sloped-back tender 0-6-0, No. 643, was placed back in service this year following an extensive five year overhaul which included major repairs to its boiler. The 643 powered a short passenger consist over the one mile track at WGHSEA's facility at Williams Grove, 15 miles south of Harrisburg each day of the nine day event at its facility south of Hartrisburg, PA. The 643 is a class B4a, which was built by the PRR at its Altoona, PA shops in 1901. Coupled to the 643 are two wooden "coaches" built on freight flatcars, and bringing up the markers is an ex-PRR wooden N6B caboose. This photo was taken on September 2, 2006.
