Have you ever stood
trackside, looking at freight cars, and wondered who owns
them? Have you ever looked at those three and four letter
designators on the sides of cars and wondered what they meant?
These designators,
like ICG, DODX, or ADMX, are called reporting marks. They
are officially assigned designators of railroad equipment
as registered with the Association of American Railroads (AAR).
Below, the NRHS
provides a way for you to look up reporting marks, by company/organization
name, and by the reporting mark.
NOTE: This is a historical database, and may not have
the most recent changes in it. Odds are though that we'll
have what you are looking for.
